Version 1.1 is a very significant feature upgrade for the latest must-have tool for web design, and not just a little bitty bug fix as a lot of point one updates are.
The new stuff:
1: Interactive access to all installed system color pickers
By clicking on the original color swatch in the automatic picker dialog you can now access the system color picker. CMYK, HLS, HSV and RGB are just some of the system color pickers you can use. Others include Pantone pickers if installed, and, yes, even the new OS 8 Crayon color picker.
Though, the system color picker appears in another dialog, creating web safe colors is still interactive with it. The ColorSafe™ dialog will update on the fly behind it as you adjust colors in the System color picker dialog.
2: Access to the host application color picker
By Option-clicking on the original color swatch in the automatic color picker dialog you can now access the host application's color picker if available for plug-ins to call. (Works in Photoshop, PhotoDelux, and other hosts that stick to the letter of the plug-in API, but isn't always available depending on the host application you are using.)
The host application color picker isn't interactive. There is no way to make it, before you ask, but in Photoshop you can now easily match Pantone colors with it if you don't have the Pantone System color picker installed. It's handy.
3: The foreground and background colors are always available now
The currently selected application foreground and background colors are now always available in the automatic color picker. Just click on the fore/back control over the sliders to automatically set the sliders to the foreground or background color set in your host application.
If you happen to be using ColorSafe™ with Illustrator (It really works great with the new version 7, btw, since you can convert objects to raster then use ColorSafe™ to fill them.) there isn't really such a thing as a foreground or background color in Illustrator and the fore/back control is black and white respectively at all times.
4: The main RGB sliders for the automatic color picker are live now
You can now click anywhere along the slider to jump to a color. You don't have to drag them all over the place now if you don't want to. Just another small improvement on the road to perfection.
That's a lot of improvement for less than two weeks after the first release, but the initial response has been very good.
It seems that ColorSafe™ *really* is the one plug-in no web designer can live without.
